It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved president of Share the Bounty, Dr. Benny Thannikkotu. A distinguished heart surgeon, he was a man with a heart for humanity, tirelessly dedicated to feeding and comforting those in need. His unwavering compassion and leadership inspired all of us, leaving a lasting impression on our mission and our hearts. While we mourn his loss, we celebrate a life filled with purpose and generosity, and we remain committed to continuing his legacy of service.
Charlie and his wife, Judy, reside in Brampton Ontario. They have five children and eight grandchildren. He is a career real estate professional and currently operates his own commercial property management company in Toronto.
His non-profit experience reaches back more than forty years with building schools and educating youth in South Asia and other regions of the world. He is grateful for the opportunity for further service with Share the Bounty in South-Central Ontario.
Jason has always had a calling to volunteer and began the ‘donate a food bag’ program at his local grocery store to donate non-perishable food items, toiletries, etc. to the local food banks, women’s shelters, animal shelters, local churches and schools. His program has directly benefited many charitable organizations throughout the years and his generosity and entrepreneurial spirit has immensely helped those in need.
In his spare time, aside from his tireless hours to volunteering at Share the Bounty, Jason loves going to concerts and meeting celebrities. He is grateful to be on the board of Share the Bounty.
Shirley Evans is currently retired and living in Brampton, Ontario. Previously employed at The Salvation Army Family Life Resource Centre in Brampton (FLRC) for a tenure of 17 years, her position was a Legal Support Worker. FLRC is an Emergency shelter for abused women and children and is an organization that Share the Bounty heavily supports.
Shirley has many years of volunteering experience. She began as a teenager working with 7 year old boys in a group called Cubs as well as working at the school her children attended. Shirley volunteered at Vanier and started a phone service called Parents Anonymous which lasted for 10 years. She then joined another volunteer group that prepared and provided Parenting Courses for the Region of Peel which were later included and incorporated in the Board of Education curriculum.
Shirley’s last volunteering position was at the William Osler Hospital in the Dialysis and Emergency Departments. She is a firm believer that community will always prevail by uniting to help those in need. She has always lent a helping hand and is honoured to be a board member for Share the Bounty
